Maximize Your Food Shopping Experience

I really am not much of a shopper! There! It is out! However, I have some girlfriends (and relatives) who, before you even get the entire word out, have their bag and keys in hand headed for the store. When the mood hits me, though, I know where to find one of “them.”

If you are at all like me, you probably need help maximizing your shopping experience. Allow me to share my tips. Are you ready? Here we go!

1. Shop first thing in the morning or late at night. I find fewer people at the grocery store earlier in the mornings (even on weekends) and fruits and vegetables are plentiful. If you can, shop then! It makes getting in and getting out a cinch. Are any of you night owls? If so, russian grocery store you might actually enjoy shopping at night because of its ease.

2. Use an app to list the items you need so that you can move through the grocery store pretty quickly. One of my favorite apps is: “Simple Grocery List.” I like that I can create my list and then, if necessary, I can email it to someone else so that they can pick the items up for me. (Delegating works at home, too!)

If you want to make your experience even easier or have an allegience to a particular grocery store, be mindful that several stores have their own apps too. A popular grocery store in my area certainly does and their app is amazing! They have everything imaginable within the app, to include recipes. The app’s functionality even allows you to add ingredients from any given recipe to your shopping list and includes the cost of each item to allow you to stay within your budget.

3. Know what to purchase from “regular” grocery stores, versus health food stores and even international markets. I rarely find Thai baby coconuts in my “regular” grocery store and know they may only be available seasonally in my health food store, if at all. So when I need to purchase “exotic” items such as coconuts or guava, I head over to an international market and don’t waste time looking for them elsewhere.

4. There is something that I love about being outdoors. Perhaps it has to do with my upbringing. I have the fondest childhood memories of going to the swap meet (outdoor markets that sell new and second-hand items) on Saturday mornings.
